Due to the outbreak of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine in February 2022, a team of volunteers from the cities of Odessa and Nikolaev was forced to leave their homes and move to Moldova to save their lives and the lives of their families. It was a big challenge for all of us, but despite this, the whole team rallied and began to actively engage in evacuation and humanitarian assistance to a huge number of refugees who fled the war in Ukraine. In the first months of the war, our team helped with the evacuation, transfer and resettlement of more than 1,500 people. Refugees from Ukraine were received and resettled in 15 villages in the south of Moldova. Active hostilities on the territory of Ukraine led to the fact that a large number of people were forced to leave their homes and look for a safe place for their lives.
Because of this, the border points between Moldova and Ukraine were overcrowded with people who needed help. Due to these difficult circumstances, our team began an active search for a place where we could receive and accommodate groups of people who were evacuated from hot spots and where they could get help and temporary shelter. After a few weeks of searching, we found the hospital building (which had already been closed for some time), but according to its characteristics it was suitable to become a safe haven for more than 3000 thousand people, and later received the name "House of Hope". A long and time-consuming process of restoring the old hospital building has begun. The building lacked water supply, sewerage, heating system, and the electrician in the building was in an emergency condition. Step by step, thanks to the help of many friends, partners, as well as the support of caring people, we were able to start the process of restoring water supply and sewerage systems.
In parallel with the restoration of the House of Hope, we were looking for partners who could help us evacuate people outside Moldova, because many people who fled the war in Ukraine wanted to go further to Europe because they were afraid that Moldova could be the next target for the Russian military. One of the porters was the Space Eye organization headed by Michael and Honey Bushoer, thanks to close cooperation with whom we were able to do a lot of evacuation work and send more than 60 buses with evacuation groups from our center "House of Hope" from hot spots of Ukraine to the city of Regensburg, where the main office of the Space Eye organization is located.
One of our friends named Tommy (who is a representative of the Round Table organization in Germany) with his team Vanessa Ion and Bob helped us with the purchase of beds, as well as the replacement of windows, doors and subsequently the restoration of all electrical equipment, as well as the renovation in the center of the House of Hope.
Another our friend help us with supporting of payment for communal expenses and meals for evacuation groups.
Our team of 11 people continues the mission of evacuating people from hot spots in Ukraine, and also provides our center to accommodate families of refugees from Ukraine as a place for long-term residence, which can accommodate up to 102 people at a time. Our center House of Hope is still in the process of restoration and continues to need your help and support to complete the restoration and repair of showers, toilets and living rooms in the center of the House of Hope
